Weekend crime round-up

• Saturday – A silver Toyota Etios was stolen from the [email protected]

* A pedestrian was robbed along Tigerwood Avenue, in Leachville.

Two robbers confronted the victim at gunpoint at around 2pm.

After searching the victim and robbing him of his cellphone, the pair fled in a red Toyota Tazz.

• Sunday – No information was received.

Other cases reported:


• Lemmer Road, in Vulcania (business).

The company was burgled on Wednesday.

Stolen: Workshop tools.

• Kleinfontein Road, in Anzac.

The break-in took place on Wednesday.

Stolen: A TV and a DVD player.

• Bentley Place, in Kenleaf.

The residence was burgled on Thursday.

Stolen: A laptop and two cellphones.

• Civin Road, in Sonneveld.

The home was broken into on Thursday.

Stolen: An amplifier.

Armed robbery:

• Three security guards were tied up during an armed robbery at a business along Uranium Road, in Vulcania, on Thursday.

A group of robbers confronted the guards at gunpoint at about 1.30am.

The robbers fled with a welding machine, a grinder and other tools.

• Cellphones and WiFi routers were stolen during an armed robbery at a shop in the [email protected], on Thursday.

Five men, one of whom was armed a gun, entered the store at around 6pm and held up staff members.

Staff were locked in the shop’s storeroom after being forced to help the robbers load the stolen goods into a bag.

The robbers fled in a white Mercedes Benz.

Theft of motor vehicle:

• A white Ford Laser was stolen from Queen Avenue.

The car was taken on Tuesday at about 6.30pm.

Theft out of/from a motor vehicle:

• Batteries and radiators were stolen from several vehicles parked at a transport company along 20th Road, in Denneoord.

The theft was discovered on Wednesday.

• A handbag was stolen during a smash-and-grab at the intersection of Voortrekker Road and Station Road, on Thursday.

The incident took place at about 5.50pm when the victim was stationary at the traffic lights.

A lone robber smashed the front passenger side window and grabbed the handbag from the seat.

The handbag contained cash, bank cards and personal documents.
