Weekend crime round-up

• Friday – A shop in Prince George Avenue was robbed by two men at about 2pm.

The robbers threatened the owner and his brother with a gun and bound the siblings with cables.

They took cash and cigarettes, and fled in the owner’s vehicle – a gold Nissan Tiida.

* Four burglaries were reported.

The break-ins took place at homes along De Waal Street, Van Lingen Street and Biggs Avenue, in Brakpan North, and Gladstone Avenue.

TVs, shoes, cash, tools, laptops, jewellery and other household items were stolen.

• Saturday – Two batteries were stolen from a truck parked along Ergo Road, in Sallies Village.

* Two cars were stolen from the Shoprite parking area at the corner of Kitzinger Avenue and Park Street.

A green Fiat Uno was stolen between 11am and 11.20am, and a white Honda Ballade was stolen between 1pm and 1.30pm.

* A man was stabbed and robbed of his cellphone along Kitzinger Avenue.

The victim was standing outside a shop at around 7.20pm when the robber grabbed him and demanded his cellphone.

He threatened the victim with a broken glass bottle and searched him.

The robber took the victim’s cellphone, stabbed him in the hand and ran off.

* A male hitchhiker was robbed and assaulted by the occupants of a white Toyota Quantum.

The incident took place along Heidelberg Road (R23), near Carnival City, at about 10.45pm.

After climbing into the Quantum, the victim was overpowered and assaulted.

He was strangled and kicked, and robbed of his wallet and a bag containing two jackets.

The attackers drove to an ATM, where they withdrew cash from the victim’s bank account.

They then drove to Van Dyk Road where the victim was dropped off.

• Sunday – Truck batteries were stolen from an address along Witpoortjie Road, in Witpoort Estates.

Other cases:

• Wednesday – A car parked at an address along Heidelberg Road (R23), in Dalpark, was broken into.

A laptop, wallet containing bank cards, ID document and driver’s licence, and other valuable items were stolen.

• Thursday – Tyres and batteries were stolen from a truck parked along Second Road, in Sallies Village.

* A home in Northdene Avenue was burgled of two TVs, clothes, bedding, curtains, a games console, shoes, jewellery and tools.
