Armed robbery:

• A male commuter was robbed at gunpoint in a taxi on Tuesday evening.

The victim had boarded a white Toyota Quantum along Voortrekker Road at about 6.10pm when one of the other passengers grabbed him.

The man pointed a gun at the victim and demanded money.

The victim handed over his cellphone and R40, and was dropped off near the Brakpan Civic Centre.

Robbery with other weapon:

• A Brenthurst woman was robbed in the driveway of her De Wet Street home yesterday (Wednesday).

The victim arrived home at about 9.30am after withdrawing cash at a bank.

As she was opening the driveway gate, the victim noticed a black Renault driving down the street.

The Renault stopped behind her car and two men climbed out, one of whom was armed with a knife.

The victim returned to her car and tried to drive into the yard, but the men stopped her.

One of them tried to pull her from the vehicle and she was punched in the face and mouth.

The other grabbed her purse.

When she tried to start the car again, one of the men grabbed the keys from her.

The victim then sounded the car’s hooter, alerting people in the house.

The robbers returned to their vehicle and drove off when someone came out of the house.

Cash, a cellphone, car keys, ID card, a Sassa card and bank cards were stolen.

A wristwatch belonging to one of the robbers was found on the ground following the incident and was seized by police.

It is believed four men were involved in the incident.
